The EDGE is the St. Catherine/St. Monica Middle School Youth Ministry.
Our mission is Leading Middle School Youth closer to Christ.
An EDGEr is a Middle School Student.
If that’s too open ended here are some qualifiers:
An EDGEr is a Middle School Student…whose family goes to St. Catherine
An EDGEr is a Middle School Student…who’s Family goes to St. Monica
An EDGEr is a Middle School Student… who is friends with someone who’s family goes to St. Catherine or St. Monica
An EDGEr is a Middle School Student…who is in need of a church family
Sometime people ask the question, how many kids do have in Youth Ministry?
The answer is “all of them”
The EDGE Night!
The biggest and coolest part of this ministry is The EDGE Night! The EDGE Night happens almost every Wednesday during the school year from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. in The Stanley Centre at St. Catherine. EDGErs arrive at different times so we have from 6:30 to 7:00 available to run around the gym, play games upstairs, games on the computers in the Fellowship room, PSII in the Fellowship room, and EDGErs have often been spotted dancing in the GuadalupeRoom. When 7:00 rolls around we gather and utilize the 3 “F”s to help strengthen the connection that we have to Jesus and to each other in creative ways.
The 3 F’s of course are Fellowship, Formation, and Food!
The St. Catherine and St. Monica EDGE Community includes at the very least, 14 different Middle Schools in several different cities. A large part of our EDGE Ministry is helping them to see each other as family and not as school rivals. The only way that we can ever merge this many schools is through Jesus Christ and the formation that He provides for us. And did I mention the snack at the end of The EDGE Night?
The EDGE Mass
Every Month we have one Mass set aside for our EDGErs which, appropriately enough, we call The EDGE Mass. The EDGE Mass will be on the third Saturday of each month from October through May at the 5:30 Mass at St. Catherine. The mass features the music of The EDGE Band which is almost entirely EDGErs.
When Mass is over on these Saturday’s we have what is known as the E.F.G. (EDGE Family Gathering). The E.F.G will either be at St. Catherine or off the grounds at someplace fun where we can get together with the whole family and share a meal and enjoy each other’s company.
In addition to all of these adventures The EDGE tries to “Go MAD” (go make a difference) in the community. In the past few years we have had a Raking Rampage, a Pilgrim Pursuit, Cookies and Cutters, Can sorting at PCOC, Bell Ringing at Christmas time, Spring cleanup, and our “Summer Hope Week”
