Our Sister Parish: Delegation seeks packs & letters for El Sitio community

A young adult delegation from St. Catherine’s will visit our Sister Parish of El Sitio, El Salvador from August 3-12. They will live with families, paint the new addition to the library, update the census, facilitate activities for youth and share as brothers and sisters in Christ. As representatives of the families of our parish, the delegation will bring family packs and letters from St. Catherine’s parishioners. Here are ways you can help:

Family Packs: The delegation’s goal is to take one pack of necessities for each of the community’s 60 families. If you’d like to donate, please gather the items in a plastic grocery bag and drop it off in the lower level of the church no later than July 15th.

· 1 twin sheet set

· 1 regular size tube of tooth paste

· 4 toothbrushes

· 2 pairs of flip flops (any size but not too big)

· 1 set of blank greeting cards (10 cards and envelopes)

· 1 pack of pens (containing 4-5)

Hand-in-Hand Letter Writing: If you have been corresponding with a family in El Sitio, we ask that you bring your letter to the church office no later than July 15th. If you are interested in beginning a letter exchange with a family in El Sitio, please contact Bryan Hill at bryan_in_mex@yahoo.com or 998-0954. Letters may be written in English, as we have volunteers ready to translate the letters into Spanish.

Migrant Ministry: Snacks, training

During our weekly visits to the camps, we take graham crackers and juice as a light snack for the children. We are asking for donations of these items during the months of July and August. Please leave these items on the donut racks in the Marian Hall kitchen.

All migrant ministry volunteers must be Virtus trained. A training session will be held Monday, June 22 at 6 pm in Rooms 9 and 11. Please sign up online at www.virtus.org or call Mary Hunt at 978-2338.

PB&J Needed for Loaves and Fishes!

We are collecting peanut butter and jelly for Loaves and Fishes. Summer is here and school is out. It’s time to reach out to children who no longer have financial support with lunch programs in school. Donations may be placed in the box marked PB&J next to the Agape table in Marian Hall.
