We are very aware that it takes a whole parish to have a successful LIFE TEEN program! We have lots of ways that you can get involved, and we really appreciate your help and support. There are places here for both teens and adults… anyone who wants to help!
TEENS ONLY TO HELP:
CORE Team! Teen Core members must be high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. There is an application process in the fall and again in January. The team members will be assigned with some adult CORE members to help with the planning and leadership of LIFE Nights. They will also act as an advisory board to the CORE and will help with special events throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for teens to become involved in leadership and also in choosing what topics and events we cover. Teen Core should also attend the monthly LIFE Support meetings whenever possible. Applications will be available on the web site or from Nicki Herold or Father James.
Confirmation Team! High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors are needed to help with the planning and leading a Confirmation retreat on February 10th through the 12th. This group will meet in the fall and as needed for preparation, plus needs to be at the events (dates TBA). One senior rep will be chosen to attend our monthly LIFE Support meetings. FOR BOTH TEENS AND ADULTS TO HELP:
Liturgy Team! Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Altar Servers are needed. If any of those sound interesting, contact Jamin Herold, our Steward of Liturgy, at 978-2332.
Musicians and Sound Board volunteers can contact Mike Kiebel about getting involved with the LIFE TEEN band, at 327-5165.
Special Events Team! This is a new group, and will work to dream up, plan, and organize special events for the high school teens throughout the year. This team of adults and high school students (grades 9-12) will meet monthly and some members will be at each event. We are also looking for an adult Coordinator and a teen representative for this team who would report at our monthly LIFE Support meetings. Service Team! This group of adults and high school teens, grades 9-12, will decide on, organize, and lead a monthly service project, as well as special advocacy and service projects throughout the year. They will also work with Josh to publicize their projects and get excitement up among the teens. FOR ADULTS ONLY TO HELP:
CORE Team! We can always use more Core members! It is a large commitment, but if you like working with teens, and are willing to give your all to lead them closer to Christ, this may be for you. We are not looking for “perfect Catholics”, but rather for committed Catholics willing to continue to grow in faith while walking the journey alongside our teens. Commitment includes Sundays, 5:00 pm set-up through 8:30 pm clean up, as well as planning for LIFE Nights, and planning and carrying out retreats and events throughout the year. Core members will also need to attend our LIFE Support meetings. Volunteers are interviewed and must be at least one full year out of high school, and must take Virtus Protecting God’s Children training, complete a background check, and provide references. LIFE TEEN Dinners! The area where we need the most help is with food for our weekly LIFE Nights. We need people to donate food, to prepare and serve food, and to clean up the kitchen and eating areas after dinner. Prayer Team! We ALWAYS need your prayers! Parents of teens and other adults meet during our LIFE Nights to pray for us. Members of this team also become prayer partners with our teens during retreats and other special events. We’d really like to build this vital ministry, and it’s a very small commitment. Even if you can come just one Sunday a month, we’d appreciate it! Contact Steve Dudasko at 324-5179 for more information. Even prayers as you go about your day are much appreciated!
Adult Chaperones! When we have an off-grounds event, we often need adult chaperones and sometimes drivers! Volunteers must be 21+, take Virtus Protecting God’s Children training and complete a background check. Drivers must also complete a Driver Insurance Form and have at least $500,000 liability coverage. We are currently looking for a Chaperone Coordinator to be on-call to help when events come up and to attend a monthly LIFE Support meeting. This is truly a small commitment, which will be needed just a few times/year, but a very important ministry. Fundraising Team! We need a lot of help to coordinate and plan all of our mission trip fundraising, as well as possible LIFE TEEN fundraising throughout the year. While many people will be needed to help with each project, this team will meet to decide on which projects to move forward with and do the organizing and running of each. This team should be made up of adults. We are also looking for an adult Coordinator from this team who would report at our monthly LIFE Support meetings. Donations! We always accept and appreciate donations of 2-liter bottles of soda, paper goods (plates, napkins, cups, silverware, bowls), and snack food. Donations can be brought to the YM Office M-F, 9-4.
